Description:
This is 1976 Friederich Concert Guitar from his cedar period. These are heavily constructed with double sides and have a great depth of tone. This one was described as sounding as if it had swallowed the vault of a cathedral. Beautiful, soulful, amazing.
The condition of the instrument is perfect. No cracks, no restorations. There are only very light signs of playing wear. It is in a remarkable state of preservation.
Daniel Friederich began making guitars in the late 1950’s. He was a student of guitar at the time, and could not afford an expensive instrument. Through his friend, the renowned Robert Bouchet, from whom only 156 guitars are known, Friederich learned the art of guitar making.
Daniel Friederich is still living, though he has stopped making guitars due to his advanced age. Toward the end of his career, sometime after 2015, he was making as few as four guitars a year, usually for close friends and longtime acquaintances! The guitar here is from the beginning of his storied career, at a time when he was firmly establishing his reputation.
