Description:

This is a 1992 Ramirez Classical Guitar, 1a, “da Camara”.

This is, according to the guitarist Carle Costa, the ‘most balanced and uniform guitar’ he had ever played. This may be due to the ‘da Camara’ construction, an extra structural leaf inside of the guitar that evens out the wolf notes in an instrument, as confirmed by acoustic studies commissioned by Jose Ramirez III at the University of Madrid. (Wolf notes are ones that are close in harmonic or anti-harmonic resonance to the body of the guitar and so deviate in their volume from other notes. Wolf notes also lack overtones which make notes more interesting to the ear, and they are perceived as less attractive musically.)

It is very satisfying to play this pinnacle innovation of Jose Ramirez III, building on his earlier innovations of the cedar top, and the longer scale length and larger body size for sonically filling concert halls with the sound of the guitar. The instrument is in mint condition.

A nice luthier article concerning the “da Camara” feature can be found on Delcamp.
